Composing

Besides being a performer and teacher, Clemens Teufel has composed music since he was 16 years old. Before studying piano performance he was a student of Karl-Wieland Kurz at the Akademy of Tonal Art in Darmstadt, Germany where he took classes in music theory and composing. He later took classes in composition and musical history at the University of Music in Weimar.

Five Piano Portraits (2019) is a series of compositions written to honor five ladies and their character and beauty. I was commissioned to compose these for someone who wanted to have this music dedicated to his family.
